Meet Co d’Azur: An Idyllic Coworkation in French Riviera
Written by Paula Semaan
If you’ve been working remotely, you know by now the advantages that this work style provides. Flexibility, better work-life integration, saving time, energy and environmental impact instead of commuting daily, a time that can be invested in family life, self-development and wellbeing.
However, working from home on a constant basis has its challenges: it could be isolating and you might be longing for a connection with other inspiring professionals.
Also, the daily routine and tasks can become cumbersome. You meet your colleagues or customers only over video-calls or even audio-calls, and you start missing in-person interactions.
Going to the office or to a coworking space nearby is definitely a solution. However, you might feel the need for a change of environment, especially if it’s rainy and cold outside, and you’re dreaming of some sun in the middle of the winter, but you have strict project deadlines, lots of work to finish and not enough holidays.
This is exactly why we created Co d’Azur! The aim of Co d’Azur is to gather an international community of remote working professionals, in stunning villas in the French Riviera (South-East of France, also known as Côte d’Azur, for the azure blue color of the Mediterranean Sea on its coast).
In these villas, guests stay for one week or longer, in elegant private bedrooms. They work together in a dedicated coworking space with a strong reliable internet connection, or attend video-calls from quiet desks.
They share healthy meals together, which are prepared by a private chef, according to the guests preferences and restrictions. In the morning, guests can participate in movement sessions provided by certified trainers (HIIT, yoga, pilates, etc).
The community members also share a wide range of sport, cultural and social activities, provided by hand-picked local partners in the region, and according to their personal interests.
Activities range from discovering the region with tour guides who also teach useful French sentences for everyday’s life (asking for direction, ordering at a restaurant,...), discovering Nice in a fun way through an explorer game, sailing, hiking, playing gulf, playing tennis, water sports, skiing in winter (ski slopes in the Southern Alps are just 1.5 hours from Nice city), sport events (Olympics 2024 football tournaments, Ironman), attending concerts, theater plays, festivals (the famous and glamorous Cannes Film Festival), carnivals (Nice Carnival is the 3rd in the world) or simply joining an international afterwork event or chilling at the villa and playing games, watching movies,...
Co d’Azur welcomes individuals and also teams. It offers tailored corporate stays, for companies looking to gather their scattered team members for workshops, training and team building activities.
Co d’Azur partners with team building experts and intercultural communication professors to conduct these events with excellence. A Co d’Azur stay can also be a benefit offered by a company to its employees.
We are happy to welcome you and organize your stay according to your preferences. Please feel free to reach out to us on [email protected]. We look forward to welcoming you here!

Let’s Explore An Emerging Digital Nomad Location With Access To Nature
A lot of places like Bali, Medellín & Playa del Carmen used to be considered cheap for digital nomads but I don’t think they’re that cheap anymore.
That’s why I say Skopje, North Macedonia will be the next digital nomad hop spot! It is a place that offers digital nomads a great lifestyle at a very affordable price.
Digital Nomad Amenities
It has a lot of other great benefits digital nomads need & want like:
Safety
An international airport
Easily accessible public transportation
Great infrastructure like electricity & internet
Solid cellular connectivity
The only thing missing to make Skopje a slam dunk as a digital nomad destination is that it’s in North Macedonia, a landlocked country just north of Greece.
However, it is located in close proximity to Lake Ohrid, a well-known UNESCO World Heritage site where people flock especially during the hot summer months. [In fact, click HERE to read Kate Shifman‘s great article from last summer on living & working remotely from Lake Ohrid.

Cost of Living
To give you a little insight into how much it costs to live in Skopje, here is some rough pricing based on my 1-month stay there last summer:
🏡 Rent a very nice condo in a great neighborhood for $700-1200/mo.
🍽 Eat & drink at normal restaurants for $5-10/meal or fancy for $25-35/meal.
☕ Enjoy an excellent cafe culture w/ espressos for < $1 & cappuccinos for < $2.
🍅 Cook your own affordable meals with fresh, readily available meat & produce.
Fun Things to Do
While I wasn’t able to do all these things during my stay in Skopje, here is a list of fun & easily accessible things to do:
Explore Skopje city center, the Stone Bridge, and the Old Bazaar
Matka Canyon & Vrelo Cave
Millennium Cross
Lake Ohrid
Daytrip to Kosovo
Mavrovo National Park
Wine tasting
Winter downhill skiing
Skopje Aqueduct
Stobi archaeological site

Why Americans Are Having Trouble Getting Spanish Digital Nomad Visa
by Relocation Partner Orience
In recent years, Spain has become a popular destination for digital nomads from around the world seeking a change of scenery and a better quality of life.
However, despite the fact that Spain has introduced the new digital nomad visa to encourage remote workers to come and live in the country, many Americans need help to obtain this residency permit.
Here are the 3 main reasons why Americans are having trouble getting the Spanish digital nomad visa:
First, one of the main requirements for this visa is the social security certificate, which can be difficult for Americans to get from the US social security system.
The Spanish government is requesting this certificate which is viewed as proof of social security payments by the employer on behalf of the employee.
As this is a new requirement, not previously seen for other types of visas, there is a lot of confusion surrounding how to get this certificate.
Second, another challenge for Americans is obtaining the necessary documentation to support their application.
The application process can be complex and time-consuming, and applicants need to provide a range of documents, including proof of income, health insurance, and a criminal background check.
The criminal background check must be issued by the FBI, and the document must be apostilled, which can be a lengthy and costly process.
Finally, the Covid-19 pandemic has also affected the application process for the Digital Nomad Visa.
Some Spanish consulates in the US have suspended in-person visa appointments or have limited capacity, which can lead to delays in the application process.
While the Digital Nomad Visa is designed to make it easier for remote workers to live and work in Spain, Americans may still face some significant challenges when applying for this visa.
It is important for applicants to carefully review the requirements and ensure that they have all the necessary documentation before submitting their application.
Consulting with a qualified immigration firm like Orience can also be helpful in navigating the application process.
